Tonight after school, at our department meeting, the science department at DHS gave some thought to these four key aspects of effective pedagogy – questioning, feedback, independence and challenge. Working in small groups they thought about what best practice looks like for each one.
For a group of scientists, we were surprisingly creative! What follows is a summary of each one.
So, this activity generated much great discussion and sharing of good ideas. Each member of the department is now going to commit to trying out at least one new strategy from each of the four areas and then feedback at the next meeting.
A great use of meeting time!
